Oregon Coast July 2013

Is it weird that I have been dreading updating the blog? Pure dread.  But we had so much fun this summer we need to document.

We had planned to go to the Oregon Coast with my family for quite a while. It was what we were looking forward to all summer. And then it came and went, and it was actually quite sad when it was over. But it was oh so enjoyable while it lasted.

Sadly we started off the trip with a sick little bug. The night before we left Aili had a fever of over 103. Not fun. We took her to the doc and she said it was just a viral infection and that she should be good in a couple days. We were already worried about how the 14+ hour drive would go with her....but now with her sick it made us more nervous. We drove along with my parents and were meeting Logan, Kristen and Olin at the beach house. Aili actually did really good. She could last maybe 3 hours without taking a break. And then she would start saying, "All done! All done!" We stayed in a nasty hotel, that made me really cringe, but I survived. It smelled like one time it was a smoking room and now they have tried to make it non-smoking. Nice try. All of my clothes and everything reeked of it. Blah! But it was somewhere to sleep.

One of the stops the next day was Multnomah falls. I must to stop at on the way to Oregon coast. It was nice to get out of the car and walk around a little.

Then we headed off the the beach house. This was our 3rd time going to the beach house. It is Kristen's family's beach house. They are nice enough to let us stay there occasionally. This was going to be the first time that we would be there with Logan and Kristen though. We love the beach house so much! It is so perfect!

Our first full day there we went up to Cannon Beach. We ate at Mo's, yum yum! Had be a big bowl of clam chowder and garlic, cheese bread. It was delicious, and amazing. Aili was still sick and now had a rash, so she was pretty cranky. We played on the beach, and it was quite windy, then roamed town for a little bit before going home.

 After that first day the rest is just a blur. I think the next morning the men went deep sea fishing. Which I was originally mad that I wasn't invited, but I'm SO glad I did not go. My dad and Chris had fun, they caught a ton of fish, and were two of maybe 3 people that were not puking their brains out. As soon as they hit open water Logan was puking his brains out for a good 2.5 hours. And that was with taking 2 motion sickness pills, one the night before and one that morning. I would have for sure thrown myself over board, and been willing to be eating by a shark.

So here are some pics of the rest of our adventures which included, walks on the beach, tide pools at Cannon beach, hot dog roasts on the beach and sunset, crabbing, kite flying, small hikes down to a cool beach, kayaking, legit mini golf in Tillamook, and a short trip to Saturdays market to get. I always go get the Greek food at Saturdays market, I crave it everyday. It has the longest line, but so worth the wait! We had SO much fun on the Oregon coast! We just make it an annual trip! We loved being all together (minus Sean, we missed him, but he was having his own adventure in Alaska). Aili loved playing with Olin. We are so sad that it had to end.

You have no idea oh insane the wind was this day. We are acting as a wind break for the kiddos.
