Aili is just the smarted, cutest little person to ever have in your life. She seriously brings the most amazing amount of joy to us every single day. We continue to gush over her every night before we go to sleep. We just talk about all the cute things that she does throughout the day.
Eating
Aili stopped breastfeeding at around 17 months. Just happened. I got a vicious 24 hour flu where I stayed away from Aili the whole time. After that, we were both done. Completely easy and painless.
Aili use to be an AMAZING eater she would eat pretty much whatever you put in front of her, and would eat a TON! Not so much anymore. Guess she isn't growing as much? She still eats a good variety of food, but knows she can be a little pickier. But if she doesn't eat what we give her then I figure she just isn't that hungry. Some days she loves one food the next she doesn't. We have found she actually really likes spicy food. She is much more likely to eat something if it has a spice to it. The one thing she LOVES is her whole milk. She guzzles that stuff.
Playing
Aili loves to be outside. She asked to go outside all the time. Rain, shine, wind, cold, heat, she wants to be outside. She LOVED swimming this summer, and literally has asked about the pool every single day it has been closed. We tell her the swimming pool is closed, but she wants to go and see it anyway. Our convos:
Aili: "Swimming pool closed."
Me: "Ya it's closed, I'm sorry."
Aili: "Sleeping? Banky?" (We told her it has a Blanky, on it and its sleeping, haha.)
Me: "Yep, it's sleeping and has a blanky on it."
Aili: "See it?"
Me: "You want to see it?"
Aili: "Ya!"
Everyday.....
She loves all things Mickey Mouse. She has a little stuffed Mickey. I little book that has Mickey suction cup characters that you can put on the pages. She plays with those everyday, and knows every single characters name. She has a case of little Minnie Mouse books that she lugs around like a little suitcase. She flips through those books constantly, and then comes to you with them and says, "Read it?" She is really getting into her stuffed animals. She has always liked her doggy. But she loves them all now and has started to play with them more. She has a little pink Monkey and a little doll that we call "girl" and those to always play and talk to each other. It is really fun to watch her start playing like that.
She loves playing with the neighbors cat outside. His name is Juan Pablo (named after the guy on the Bachelor) but we just call him kitty. You can't pull her away from him. They just run and chase each other and she just laughs and laughs. She will sometimes go outside and call for him, putting her hand up at her chin, "Kitty! Kitty! Come here!" So cute.
She loves playing on the play ground. Slides, climbing, swings, "balancing". She loves it. She enjoys going and getting the "Mango" which is mail, for some reason it sound like mango and it's really funny. I give her the key, she can put it into the hole, turn it, open it, and get the mail out.
She loves putting shoes on, my shoes, her shoes, princess shoes. She is always putting some shoes on and walking around in them. She gets really frustrated when she can't get them on.
She still loves her books. We got a lot of new books at an amazing garage sale and it is fun to watch her discover new favorite books. She has memorized all her favorites and can say them along with you. She loves to color. She has a Mickey Mouse coloring book, crayons and color pencils and she just goes to town scribbling all over the pages.
Music/Songs
She still LOVES songs. We have a CD in the car of all these kids songs, and she went through a phase of chanting "song, song, song song" until you turned on her songs in the car. She can now sing almost all of the words to a some of her favorites songs. She may sound slightly tone deaf, but its so cute! She can sing: "I'm so glad when daddy comes come", "Twinkle, Twinkle little star", "Wheels on the bus", "Once there was a snowman", "Patty Cake" (she likes to sing this one FAST!), "ABCs", "Book of Mormon stories", and "Itsy bitsy spider". She also catches on to new songs way fast. She really is genius. She loves singing time in nursery and is front and center singing along.
Nursery
Speaking of nursery. The first two weeks we took her in there left, never came back, went in to get her, and she wasn't even phased. She loved it. Then the 3rd time. No way she would let you leave. Hole your breath crying. I don't know why there is such a problem now. So one of us has to be in there which is kind of annoying. I just sit in the corner and for the most part she just plays and does her thing. Chris says he tries to ignore Aili and plays with the other kids. It's weird, I hope she grows out of it. She has fun in there, I don't know why we have to be there with her.
Learning New Things
Every day she proves to us that she is way smarter than we even know. At 17 months she was counting to 10 and could say her ABCs. She now can count to 20. She knows her colors....on most days, sometimes she forgets. But she knows the signs to all the colors so you just remind her with the sign. She still uses her signs occasionally, but always says the word with it. She knows what everything is. The other day I was drawing shapes and she knew what a lot of them were....I didn't even know she knew that! She knew, star, heart, and square.
She went poo poo on the potty on August 27th for the first time. She kept telling me, "poo poo, potty" so I put her on the potty when she says that. She has gone pee, pee multiple times, she has even gone pee pee on the potty and both grandparents houses. So when she asks, we do it. I don't know if she fully understands it yet though.
For the most part she says her words very clearly (except for mail "mango"). She can really communicate well with Chris and I, me especially. She tells us what she wants to eat, what she wants to do, and play. When she wants you to go somewhere with her she reaches for your hand and says, "hand, hand, hand" until you grab her hand and she leads you. She makes us laugh all the time with things she says, and recognizes. She definitely smarter than Chris and I, that is for sure. Future heart surgeon in the making (wouldn't that be cool?).
There is literally nothing in the world that makes Chris and I more happy than our little bug. She loves her daddy so much. They play and play when he comes home from work. When he goes to work she says, "See ya!, yuv you!" And daddy goes, "Bye, love you! Daddy has to go to work to make us....?" And Aili says, "Money!" She runs right up to him and gives him big hugs around the neck when he gets home.
