August Aili Health Update

In August Aili had her 3 month check-up on how her heart is doing since she had her cath surgery done in May. May...that seems so long ago. We were prepared for a long day at UVRMC, but it actually went so smoothly and quickly. We were SO happy we didn't have to go up to Primary Children's.

We tried telling Aili what we were going to go do, but you know, she only understands so much. We were most worried about the IV. She has had the worst experiences with IVs. I literally want to punch some people when they go fishing for a vein in her small little body. But we talked to the sedation people before hand and we decided that would give her verced so she would be a little more calm and relaxed when they did the IV. It was AWESOME. They spray it up her nose...which is annoying and stings a little but then she calmed right down, and only cried a little when they did the IV. Which they got in one poke, also awesome! We then took her down to the nuclear medicine, where they put radioactive isotopes into her blood, but her in a machine and watch where the blood goes in her lungs.

Really funny watching the technician freak out because there is like no blood going to her left side compared to her right. We were prepared for that, we have seen it, and know that's whats going on. But he sure wasn't prepared.

We then took her back upstairs where they came and did the echo. We just sat there in the dark as the technician did his thing. Always a little nerve racking not knowing what they are going to find. You SO want it to be good news. Dr. Hoffman, her cardiologist, who is usually in Provo was actually up at Primary Children's that day. So the echo technician called him and Dr. Hoffman looked at the echo while they were on the phone. The technician then handed the phone to Chris. At first look of the echo things looked good! They had stayed the same from May, which is great, hadn't gotten any worse. He said he would take a closer look at the echo and lunch scan and compare it to the ones in May. We then met with him a couple weeks later, and it was still all good. We now just wait for our next echo and lungs scan in November, which is just around the corner. We hope for more good news. We want the bug as big as she can get before her next open heart surgery. We continue to pray for her and her little heart everyday. Miraculous things are happening constantly for our beautiful little girl.
